Inktober - Week 1

Hey faeries!

The first week of Inktober is over. I don't remember if you know this or not, but I'm doing weekly themes to go along with the prompts. The first week was movies/TV shows.

Just as a side note, I'm super tired feeling today, so there won't be much to read for this post. XD And if it doesn't really make a lick of sense, I blame my overtired brain. U.U

Day 1: poisonous

I really like the anime show Snow White with the Red Hair. I haven't watched the whole show yet, but it's amazing already. This is a drawing of Shirayuki, the main character, with a poisonous apple.

Day 2: tranquil

This is such a stretch for the prompt, tranquil; but I couldn't think of anything else. Big Hero 6 is one of my all time favorite family movies. (Baymax is so funny.)

Day 3: roasted

It's Barry and Wally from The Flash!!!! *does jazz hands sleepily* They always roast each other; so I thought they would work for that prompt. :P (I missed my chance to do an angry vein for Barry, though. XD Phooey.)

Day 4: spell

So, without meaning to, I sorta did a different style from my other drawings??? XD I think I like it, though. :P I also didn't mean for Draco to look dead inside, but, again, I really like it. XD This is probably my favorite drawing I've done so far.

It's hard to read what I wrote on the drawing but it says, "serpensortia" on top and "expelliarmus" on the side. Those are both spells from Harry Potter.

As you can see, this is my first black and white drawing I've done for Inktober, and I think I'll keep doing it. I need more practice drawing like that, anyway.

Day 5: chicken

I figured Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon was pretty much the definition of chicken. I don't know if he was necessary scared of his own shadow, but *shrugs* anything could've happened. XD

Day 6: drooling

Bleghhhhhhh, this is the drawing I did today, I was not feeling in the drawing mood. You can tell I was rushing it by all the crazy messy lines I drew. XD

I can hardly tell what I was drawing. It's supposed to be Sokka (from Avatar: the Last Airbender) in a sleeping bag, but uh, yeah, it looks wrong. XD Sokka looks like a baby. o.O

Next week's theme is books I wish were more popular.

How's Inktober going for you? And, if you're not doing Inktober, how's life going for you? XD

Random Post of Artsy Stuff

Hello everyone! I'm Koolestkat, also known as Chloe Grace. ;) (I've been watching too many Black Gryph0n videos.)

Soooo, since I've been a lazy person and slacked off. I don't have enough art to show you today from the art challenge. XD And being the genius that I am (not) I thought I'd do a post about random pictures of artsy things I've been wanting to post. XD

So! On to the randomness!

My friend recently graduated from high school and I wanted to make her a little something so I made a card for her.

Yeah, that's what I made. Card making isn't my favorite thing to do, to be honest. But I enjoyed myself doing this. XD I looked up a font online and then I drew it on a blank piece of paper that was already cut to size. I gone over to family friend years ago and she had taught me how to make pretty cards when I was there. So I used tips she had given me then while making this card. :)

And because I'm weird, I like drawing on my hand. (A lot. That's probably not the best habit but I don't care too much. XDD) I like practicing different fonts and my hand is a wonderful canvas. :P

Yes, I'm a Harry Potter fan. So I wrote Muggle on my hand. (That means a person who doesn't have magical powers. So like you and I are muggles.)

I've been listening to IMmortal by Black Gryph0n and Baasik. And one of the songs is called Crusader (Are We There Yet), so I drew the chorus on my palm.

Do you have any odd habits?

Formal Wear / 15 Minute Sketch / Casual Wear - 30 Drawings Challenge

Hello, hello! ;)

I thought, since I'm drawing so much lately, I should post more than one picture per post this month. So today's post has three pieces of art!

The next prompt was to draw someone in formal wear. XD I chose to draw Mettaton (from Undertale). I had this model-ish pose in mind I wanted to draw and I could not, for the life of me, find a reference photo for how to draw the head and neck and shoulders the way I wanted it to be. XD So, eh, it turned out a little wonky. XDD I haven't drawn that many side profiles, so that was a challenge for me. And I have to work on shading people's limbs and stuff to give the picture depth. :P

I made up the outfit from what I have seen other anime guys wear and real people. But I didn't have a reference picture up while I was drawing.

Then, the drawing prompt was to draw a 15 minute sketch. Now, that was an intense 15 minutes. XD The person I chose to draw was, of course, Draco. I've drawn him so many times that makes it easier to draw faster.

*laughs a little* There's so many things I didn't have time to do. XD Like, shading skin or signing my name on it.

Also, I feel like a lot of people I show this to mention that he looks so grumpy. XD *is protective* Draco's just had a hard life! Be nice! You'd be grumpy too if you were in his shoes! AND EVERYONE CALLS HIM STUPID. LIKE, HECK. NOW THAT'S ROOD.

Ahem. I'm not crazy.

Now, it's casual wear. XD

Um, welp. I trieddddddd to draw a dog on his lap. And... um. It's looks like a brown colored lump, to be honest. XD

There was another little mishap. This was the first drawing in my new sketchbook. And the sketchbook doesn't work with colored pencils cuz it leaves little white dots EVERYWHERE. So. *frowns at sketchbook* Humph. (The next drawing I did in that sketchbook I colored it with markers and it works much better! XD)

Other than the mistakes, I think I like how this drawing turned out...? XD *looks at drawing again and nods head* Yup. I think I like it. XD (Although on this picture I took of the drawing you can barely tell I gave the guy stubble. XDD Oops. :P)

Okay, that's all I have for you shanks today.

Remember WICKED is good! (Not!) (Why am I using Maze Runner terms??)

Do you ever use random terms or references from books just because you like them? XD *whispers* I do. All the buggin' time.

Introduction - 30 Drawings Challenge

Hey faeries! :D

This is my first drawing from the drawing challenge. (Lostfairy and I changed up the rules a little for the challenge. Instead of drawing one piece of art each day, we are going to draw as much as we feel like doing and if we don't finish the art in one day that's okay. So the name of the challenge doesn't make sense anymore to be 30 Day Drawing Challenge. 30 Drawings Challenge is better. XD)

The first drawing prompt was to draw an introduction. I don't have an original character to introduce so I drew myself. XD

Hopefully, you can read what it says on my picture. Let me know if you can't and I'll make a comment or something with what it says. XD

I drew myself wearing one of my favorite outfits. XD I can't wear my hoodie as much in the summer 'cause it's too hot. But it's still one of my favorite clothing items. ^.^

I'll be posting more of the drawings I did for the challenge slowly. The first few are going to be done with colored pencils, mostly, but soon it'll change over to just markers because I using a new sketchbook that doesn't go with color pencils. DX XD

Welp, I hope you guys liked learning a little more about me. And I'll you all Thursday!

Do we have anything in common? XD

Tales of the Month and a Couple of Sneak Peeks

Hey faeries!

Summer's just motoring right along, isn't it?

...

*tries to think of creative things to say in this intro*

*can't*

*slumps over and puts head on the desk and mumbles something about not having a lot of creativity in the writing department - so sorry if this post doesn't make a whole lot of sense*

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling

This book is about: Harry's in his second year in Hogwarts. And, ignoring the warnings about danger from a strange little house-elf, things are actually going semi-normal. But, one day, Harry starts hearing creepy whispers and people at the school are becoming Petrified! And, to add to the list of things that are making life harder for Harry, he has a famous new teacher who seems to know nothing about teaching; there's a new Seeker on the Slytherin Quidditch team that despises Harry; and the house-elf's "help" is far from being helpful and closer to being harmful. Can Harry figure out what's happening at school before it's too late?

I love Chamber of Secrets so much! Everything was amazing! Again, this book is so perfectly charming. And *does a little happy dance* there was a few Draco scenes!!!! <3 XD There were two characters in the book that were kinda annoying, but I still loved it. The ending to the book was twisty and awesome. XD

Sundae My Prince Will Come by Suzanne Nelson

This book is about: Mali loves ballet. Mali's mom loves the ice cream parlor, which means that her mom doesn't get Mali's passion. Things are a little tight with money for them, so when the Mali's ballet lessons start costing more, Mali has to quit. And, then Mali meets Alonzo. Alonzo's love is gelato. So Alonzo makes a deal with Mali that he would get his mom, who is a famous ballet dancer, to teach her ballet and he would work in the ice cream parlor. With drama, secrets, and gelato, what could go wrong?

Like all Suzanne Nelson books, this one was darling. It was different having a main character in a book who already has a boyfriend. The main character was kinda judgmental at the beginning, so that was also intriguing to read. :o And Alonzo's way of talking was adorkable. He's from Italy so English isn't his first language and you can tell. <3 He struggled a little with his words. XD

To sum it up, it was a really sweet book! ^-^

Kare Kano: His and Her Circumstances, Vol. 1 by Masami Tsuda

This book is about: Yukino is at the top of her class. She's good at everything and the whole school admires her. But then she starts high school, and there's a new boy in town. Arima (or Soiichiro as some call him) seems to be even more perfect than Yukino. Yukino's feels threatened by Arima. So she tries everything she can to get to the top again. One day, Arima finds out that Yukino isn't as perfect as she makes herself out to be and he blackmails her into doing his homework. Maybe Arima isn't so perfect either. Will Yukino and Arima learn that they don't have to be the best at everything?

I know this book sounds like the main character is a terrible role-model, and she, technically, kind of is, but she slowly gets better as the book goes on. XD And art style was amazing in this graphic novel!!! I loved it. <3 I could just stare at some of the panels, just trying to understand all the art techniques. The romance was cute and, although the story was rather random sometimes, I honestly loved it so much. Everything was just so anime-ish! c:

On a side note, the book was clean, except for a some swear words. :1 I just ignored those.

- - -

So, I promised two sneak peeks in the title of this post, didn't I? :3

Can you guess what this is going to be? C; This little project won't be finished for awhile, so you'll have to be patient. XD

This sneak peek is just giving you a small taste of what some of my art will be next week. :D Hint: I'm using markers more.

What do you think of the sneak peeks?

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - a book review

Hey faeries!

I have this weird thing where, when I listen to Owl City's Cinematic album, I write my blog posts faster than normal... XD *makes note to self to always listen to Cinematic when writing for this 'cause then I'd get my posts sooner XDD* And, so, I listened to it when writing this and I got this whole post done in almost an hour to two hours. :P

In case you wanted to know what Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is about, I gave a short synopsis in a blog post of mine recently. Here's the link to it!

Yeah Points
  • Friendship is important to this story. (SQUAD GOALS.) Not every single friendship is super easy at first; the characters have to work at it sometimes.
  • There's a conversation about how powerful love can be. That love can overcome any challenges. And how the love of a parent can do amazing things.
  • Dumbledore is a mentor type of character to Harry. And Dumbledore is wise, but a little mysterious in the way he goes about teaching Harry.
  • The writing itself is wonderful! Tracey had a perfect word describing this book: charming. And I have to agree, the book is so charming. XD
  • The humor in the The Philosopher's Stone is witty and just plain hilarious.
  • And, can I say, that Draco was perfectly wonderful!!! (Except, *frowns a little in thought* he is a bully, so wouldn't that make him not wonderful...? But he issssssssssssssssss wonderful, though!!!!!!!! So I don't knowwwwwwwwww.

Nah Points
  • Most of the adults in the books aren't the smartest. (Dumbledore is an exception. And Hagrid is kinda smart, too, I guess. XD)
  • Harry and his friends don't get punished (most of the time) for doing wrong stuff. They have an invisibility cloak, which is quite handy to use to get past teachers to get into trouble. And Harry has to lie to get out of a certain situation, which isn't the best thing ever. :/
  • There is one use of a swear word in the book. (Which I find to be odd in a middle-grade book.)
  • An adult is seen once looking like he has had too much to drink and is known for getting drunk at times. (I also find this to be odd for a book like this.)
  • Harry doesn't mature a ton in this book. But I think it's one of those series where it might not necessary focus on the growth of a character. And this is only the first book, so Harry will grow more in the rest of the series, anyway. XD
The Nah Points, to me, aren't that big of a deal. I wouldn't give this to a young reader, but that doesn't mean it's the worst book ever. :P If you still don't know if this is a good book or not, here's two links to other good sites for reviews. The fist one is for a site called Common Sense Media. And the second one is for Plugged In. I really don't think it's as evil as everyone makes it out to be!

To sum it up, I adored this book so much!!! Can I please have the next one already???! *wishes the second book would get to the library faster XD* Since I've read The Philosopher's Stone, I've been fangirling over it so much with both of my sisters. I can hardly wait to watch the movie this summer. <3

What are your thoughts on Harry Potter?

Tales of the Month

Hey! I actually read a quite a few books this month!!!! Woo! Go me! XDD

Lately, it feels like I've barely been reading five books or less a month, when normally I read more, and I read a total seven books last month!!! So this feels like a time to celebrate a little. XD (Although, sorry, three out of the seven books I read last month I don't have enough words to say about them, so I won't being talking about them on here. DX)

Secret Origins by James Riley

This book is about: Bethany and Owen said they wouldn't go book jumping again. But adventure just seems to find them, no matter how much they avoid it. A stranger is watching Bethany's house, does he know who Bethany is and what she can do? Bethany drags Owen into investigating this stalker, and together they find a portal in the man's basement leading to a whole other dimension. This dimension has superheroes and super villains, and one particularly hero, Doc Twilight, seems to be the key to finding Bethany's father! But in this dimension, the world is taken over by something called the Dark, and only Doc Twilight can stop him. Only there is one small problem, where is Doc Twilight?

Oh my flipping gosh, this book was amazing. I think Story Thieves is one of my favorite series ever. I love the characters and the humor and the story telling in general! I cannot even comprehend the ending to Secret Origins... There was so much backstory revealed in this book, it's crazy awesome.

I could go on and on about this book but I think if I kept talking I'd spoil everything... So! On to the next book!!! XD

Wires and Nerve by Marissa Meyer

This book is about: The wolf-hybrid soldiers are still on the loose, and they're causing more damage than good. The shaky peace between earth and Luna is done for if things keep going the way they are. Iko takes it upon herself to go and capture every rogue soldier and return them to Luna. Accompanied by a handsome Lunar guard, Iko soon finds out that catching the wolf soldiers is going to be harder than she expected.

I wasn't so sure I'd like this next installment to The Lunar Chronicles series, the art style wasn't at all how I thought it would be! In my opinion, I thought the art style was more for a younger audience. What helped me look past that was imagining the characters the way I imagined them when reading the novels. Once I started doing that, I enjoyed it far more than I had before.

The story itself was good; of course, since it's a graphic novel, it can't go as in depth as the other books, so some people might see that as a bit of disappointment. I still enjoyed it. :) I will most definitely read the next one!

Twilight Princess (Volume 1) by Akira Himekawa

This book is about: Link's past is something he wants desperately to leave behind, and a little village in the middle of nowhere is a good place to hide. As Link grows to love this peaceful village and it's people, something dark is happening to the rest of Hyrule. Will Link have the bravery to face his past and stand up to the darkness threatening his home?

Normally all The Legend of Zelda comic books are rated E for everyone, but, uh, this book was rated Teen... And for a good reason, it had way more graphic scenes than any of the other books. Like, ya know, someone's arm got chopped off. Heh. :P And *sigh* don't get me started on the one opening scene with the Princess of Twilight. *cough cough* Better clothes would be NICE. XDDD

That was about it for teenish content in the book, but still. XDD

Now, don't get me wrong, this book isn't a completely horrible you-should-never-read-it-let's-burn-it-instead kind of book. The story was really cute and told in sweet, kinda slow for LOZ comic books way. And I really enjoyed it. But since it's a much darker graphic novel, I wouldn't let a young reader read it. And I wouldn't give it to a first timer of LOZ books since none of the other books are like that.

To sum it up, it's a grim book but I liked reading about Link's backstory and the sweet village he lives in. :)

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J. K. Rowling

This book is about: Harry Potter is a young orphan boy living with his aunt and uncle and their bratty son. One day, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a note shows up on at his door. That letter changed everything for Harry. It told him he was a wizard and that he was invited to a school of magic called Hogwarts. At the school, Harry makes friends and some enemies. And it appears that one of his enemies, Voldemort, who had tried to kill Harry as a baby but failed, is up to no good again. Harry, his friend Ron, and Hermione take it upon themselves to find the Philosopher's Stone, which is the very thing that Voldemort's after. If the Stone got into Voldemort's hands, that would mean an end to the Hogwarts as they know it and who knows what other kinds of evil things would occur; and there's no way Harry can let that happen.

AHHHHHHH, I LOVE THIS BOOK. SERIOUSLY, SO MUCH. XDD And, teehee, can you spot Draco on the cover??? XDDD

I think I will give a review on here two weeks from now. :P  So you'll have to wait 'til then to get my full thoughts on the first Harry Potter book.

- - -

Whew, well, this was written later than I thought it would be. XD Hope that's with y'all. XDD

Have a great day! Stay fabulous, be glamorous and you'll don fine in life. XDD What am I even saying??? >.< XD

What are you reading?
