How I Draw Hair and More

Hey faeries!

I wanted to show you how I draw hair. It's not going to be a step-by-step... because I don't have a clear way of doing it. Maybe I'll think of a way someday. XD

Since I wasn't sure if I wanted to do a "how I draw hair" post or just "how I draw" in general, I took a bunch of pictures. So this post is going to be mostly pictures and not words. >.<

As always, I started with a circle. It's okay if it's not perfect, no one is going to see it anyway once it's finished. XD

I don't normally do this, but this time I drew a line in the middle of the face and a bit further to measure how long I wanted the chin to be.  

Remember girls have rounder/softer looking faces than guys do. And I'm drawing a girl, by the way. XD

Then I added shoulders and neck. Again, this is a rough base so it's okay if it is messy. :)

Drew the ears. Ears should be placed closer to jaw line, but not actually touching it. (I could be wrong here, I just normally do what I think looks right! Heh heh. :P)

Then I drew a simple hairline to go off of.  I struggle a little with hairlines sometimes. They matter more than I used to think. Depending on who you are drawing, if you get everything right but mess up on their hairline it won't look quite like who you were drawing. DX But don't stress about it! XDDD

Then I drew the basic hair outline. I'm drawing a curly haired girl, so I wanted to give her hair lots of body. I like adding a few strands at the end that curl in their own directions, I feel like it gives more character. (Sometimes I add strands of hair curling outward higher up in the hair, but I didn't this time.)

Then I drew the hair on the left side under her ear. In this artwork, I wanted to try drawing a girl with only one side of her hair over a shoulder, and I think I'm liking the way it turned out. :D

Then I added the bangs thing. XD I'm trying to see if I can draw them so they look like the stick off her forehead a little. (Does that make any sense? I guess I want it to look a little like the Little Mermaid's bangs, but not? XD Can't think of any way else to describe it, so. *shrugs*) 

Next, I shaded the hair. (I don't do that first usually. Most of the time, I fill in the main color of the hair and then shade. But this time I did differently, and I really liked it! <3 XD)

Then I shaded the bangs and left side. Another thing I did differently in this artwork, was making the shading have strands. You don't have to shade hair this way, you can just do simpler shapes...? I don't really know how to describe it. XD Like you ditch all the strandy things I did and do the main shaded areas.

I filled in the basic color I wanted for the girl's hair. And I smoothed the shaded parts into smaller points and stuff. 

The shiny parts are similar to the shaded ones, they're just in different locations. (I didn't add shinier areas for a long time in drawings, only recently have I done that; so if you don't feel comfortable doing that yet, you don't have to. It's helpfully to see where other people do it in drawings or look at your own hair and other people's hair in real life.)  

Then I shaded the girl's skin. 

This is my first time adding shinier areas to skin, so I'm not sure if it is anywhere near accurate. 

After that, I colored in the main skin tone.

And I kinda stopped taking pictures of each step of my drawing with the details. Because I wasn't sure if I wanted to keep the face the way I had going on, so yeah. 

I haven't done lips and noses like that before, but I think I like it...? XD

I didn't want to rush the end of this drawing so I don't have it done yet. But, when it is finished, I will post a picture of it!

Am I the only one that thinks this drawing somehow looks like a cross between a Splatoon character and Zendaya?

WIP on CS

Hey faeries!

Yup, I'm showing you another WIP I'm drawing on CS. XD

It's of Black Gryph0n again. XD I'm having fun doing it, but a little worried about the coloring part. XDDD I think I'm close to figuring out layers, but I'm not quite there yet. I let you know once I've unlocked the mystery about layers. ;P

Not much to say about this art. XDD

Doodle on CS that Just So Happens to Be Draco Malfoy

ELLO!!! 

*cough cough* Ignore my weird imitation of Luigi in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. XD

So I felt like trying to do a sketchy doodle on CS. And, of course, Draco is the person I decided to draw.

It's not perfect, but I'm okay with that. It was just for fun. XD And I did enjoy myself quite a bit. <3

Superhero Me - WIP

Hey faeries!

Me and my sister were bored on Tuesday, so we decided to find an art prompt online and draw it. The art prompt we chose was to draw yourself as an original superhero. I haven't quite finished it yet. So I'm just going to show you my WIP. XD

Ta-da!!! XD I'm going to add a lot more details to my suit, shade the whole picture, and do bunch more stuff. Hopefully, I will get it done this weekend so I show you the finished product on Monday! :O 

In case you were wondering, my Gabe Brown Masterpiece on AJ didn't get approved because it had a name on it. DX So I got rid of the Brown part of Gabe's name. (Maybe then AJHQ will approve it??? *crosses fingers* XD)

More AJ Art

So, like, I somehow let time get away from me and didn't post yesterday or last Saturday. Sorry about that! DX

I've been listening to the Getting Stronger album so much lately, I just needed to draw fanart for Black Gryph0n. XD I'll probably do some Michelle Creber fanart soon. :P

Who finds an amazing new artist or album and listens to it constantly for like weeks on end? *cough cough* Like I'm doing right now. XDD  

One Lovely Blog Award and Other Random Stuff

Howdy! *wink wink* Did you catch that reference to Undertale? XD

I'm so unprepared for this post today. DX Usually I have the post almost done by Saturday or at least try to be and have a clear idea about what I want to post... But not today! XD

Today is going to be full of random stuff. :P

I was thinking I had one or two tags I still needed to do. So I'll do one today. :)

I got tagged by Lostfairy for a tag called One Lovely Blog Award. :D She tagged two months short of a year ago. Oops. Sorry, Lost!!! D: So all you have to do for the tag is say seven facts about yourself. It's pretty simple.

Let's a go! *groans* I'm so full of references today.

1. I don't like making cards. Yes, I'm a crafty kind of person. But making cards is not my strong suit. The math of measuring the right amount of card paper is a little confusing sometimes. XD But card making has been growing on me recently. So maybe one day, I'll have lots of fun making them. :P
2. I only seriously started drawing a year ago. What I mean by seriously drawing is I actually wanted to learn more about art and techniques. Anytime earlier than a year ago I'd just say "Pffft, why would I want to know that?" if anyone tried to teach me anything about art. But now I just want to keep getting better and better and learn more and more.
3. My family is my best friends. We all get along together so well. I love hanging out with them so much. Whenever we're together fun and laughter are always present. :D 
4. Last summer I kept a detailed journal of everything I did. Heh, I don't really journal now. :P But right at the beginning of summer, I wrote in my journal almost every day. At the mid point to end point of the summer I didn't do nearly as much. XD And now I don't really do it at all. XD
5. I laugh at everything. Seriously. My sis, Lost, she can say anything. And I will laugh at it. XD I don't know why I laugh so much, but it's fun. XDDD 
6. You say three to five and I say five to three. Yup. For some random reason when I say numbers out loud like that I usually say the bigger number first. I don't know why, but that's just how I think. :P
7. I could drink one hot chocolate a day and be happy. Okay, correction, I don't think I'd be happy to drink hot chocolate once a day in summer. XD I loooooovvve hot chocolate. It's so yummy and rich and warm. I love all kinds of hot chocolate; mint, white, mocha, french vanilla, pretty much any kind of hot chocolate. 

I know I'm supposed to tag other people, but I'm don't know who hasn't done it yet. So anyone who feels like doing this tag can!

Last week I told you faeries what I was working on. And now I'm done it and I feel like showing you!

It wasn't supposed to be at the beginning, but it turned out to look like Lostfairy a little bit. She doesn't have hair in that style, but the jacket and mittens and sweats look like hers. XD 

This is my first time doing lighting like that on the girl. And I had fun! :D It was easier than I thought it would be. I just had to color the turquoise bit on the girl first before I colored the rest. :3 

Here's the next drawing I'm working on.

*squeals* Doesn't he look positively evil and adorable?! XD That's what I wanted him to look like anyway. CX 

I made this online this week. :D I was thinking of a Peter Pan quote when I wrote this. ;) It didn't turn out like I was thinking it would. But I think I'm pretty happy with the result.

I'm not sure if you know this about me yet, I like to bake a little. I can't say I'm very good. I am still such a newbie when it comes to baking. 

Anyway, I made cake pops/cake balls yesterday. I did the slash because they weren't really cake pops... Because I didn't feel like putting them on sticks. XD So they are cake balls. 

Oh goodness, in the picture they look gross. Sorry for the bad quality pic!!!  

It's a salted caramel mocha chocolate cake ball. 

I kinda made my own recipe with these... XD Like I did use recipes, but I put the recipes together.  I used a simple chocolate cake recipe for it. And a mocha frosting recipe. And a easy caramel sauce recipe. And then my mom had some chocolate sea salt to sprinkle on it. 

I think they tasted pretty good. But it was probably because Tracey, my older sis helped me make the frosting and my Mom helped me make the caramel sauce. XD

Online Art Again!

I'm back with another online art post! There's a lot of art I haven't shown you guys yet, so get ready, people, for arrrrtttt!!!!

In case you were wondering, the heading picture that says "Online Art" is a screenshot of the Animal Jam art program I use to make online artwork and then I used Fotor to add words. :)

CHIBI ANIMAL JAM YOUTUBERS!!!!! It took hours to draw this art. I used the Animal Jam YouTubers avatars as inspiration and from there I made them into chibi people. From left to right is: Aparri, Bepper, Snowyclaw, Wisteriamoon, and Julian2. I don't really watch YouTube all that much. And I've never watched a Julian2 video in my life, but I felt like doing some of the most famous AJ YouTubers and Julian2 was one of them. I've watched a few videos from all the other YouTubers that I drew and the one I've watched the most of is Aparri. He can be pretty funny, actually. XD

I specifically drew this one simplistically. I used a the circle tool and a straight line tool for most of the drawing. There's not really a whole lot to be said about this art, expect that it was fun to do. XD

Pixel art is super easy! :o I enjoyed making this one a lot. When I had first set out to make the Masterpiece on Animal Jam, I was planning to draw kawaii cherries. But, then I saw how cool it looked without a face and so I made two masterpieces out of it. One with no faces and one with faces and the word "cherry." I'm not sure which one I like best, I think they are both pretty equal. XD

Okay, confession time, I love Disney Fairies. When I was younger, I read all the Disney Fairies chapter books my library owned over and over again because I loved them so much. I loved fairies so much, I seriously thought they were real.* 

Again, I wanted to draw a simple picture. I tried to draw a face for chibi Tinkerbell but she looked better without one.**:P

*Obviously, I'm mature enough now to believe otherwise. *snorts* And I totally don't have a homemade fairy house downstairs that I check every day to see if a fairy has come to live there. Pfffft, why would I have that?!  

**I know she has a strapless dress all the time but I wanted to change her slightly. 

MOMO, THE CUTEST WITTLE FLYING LEMUR IN THE WORLD.* There was one scene in the Avatar TV show where Momo sticks his wittle coot face in the camera and it's too adorable. So I got inspiration from that scene for this picture. And he makes the cutest little sounds too! *tries really hard not to think of the actor who makes those noises for Momo and Appa* #theTricksterfromtheFlashTVshowsomehowmadecuteanimalnoisesandheisacreepyoldman

I haven't really done much scenery up to this point. So I wanted to try my hand at drawing the perspective from up high and far away. I think I did okay. And I like the way the butterfly looks. XD

  

I drew this for my sister, Lostfairy. She likes The Legend of Zelda a lot, like me. XD So that's why there is a Legend of Zelda fairy on the Masterpiece. And the background was supposed to look slightly like stone but I don't think most people would see that when they look at it. *shrugs* Oh, well. XD

I made a username Masterpiece for myself as well. For the two Masterpieces, I did one object that suited our personalities, and a fairy tale book is so me. XD I have a collection of a bunch of fairy tale books and children's classics. 

This is a inside joke between Lostfairy and I.* It may or may not have to do with a certain boy being certainly cute... :P

*It may look a bit like a dab but it is so not. XDDD 

I had a hard time with her nose and lips, to be honest. XD I think I did okay-ish... I still need to work on those two things. It was fun to draw such a big eye.* For the words, I used the straight line tool again. And then I used my mouse to draw tiny squiggly lines to make it look like it's breaking or something. XD

*And not have to draw another one to match. Sometimes it's really, really, really hard to match them up. >.< If anyone has any tips for having identical eyes in drawings, please tell me!

Sorry, guys, that this post turned out to be shorter than I wanted to be. I'm kinda tired right now so hopefully next week's post will be longer and better. :(

Online Art

Hey guys! Lately, I've been doing a bit more online art. It's been quite fun! I'm not as good online as on paper, but I try and that's what counts. 

I started drawing online later last year, in fall, I think. And here's my one of my first attempts. 

(For all of you who are curious, the art program that I used was, actually a online game. It's called Animal Jam. You can draw (or paint or whatever you wanna call it) and then make that into an item (called masterpieces) which you may put up in your house in the game. Then others online can view it and "like" it if they think it looks nice. (By the way, the numbers by the heart are how many likes I got for the art.))

This is my art of Kirby. It's super basic because I was still getting the hang of drawing with a mouse and not a pencil. To me, it's kinda a "meh" drawing. Like why did I draw an outline around the main body and not his shoes? Although, the part I do like about this drawing is Kirby's eyes. They're pretty cute.

This is the next one I did. I drew it for me and my sister's online friend we have known for years. I rather like it. There's really nothing I would change, at the moment. For this art, I used a lot of circles and the erased what wasn't needed. 

I drew this art for my sister's birthday. It's of my sis and two guys she has crushes on. I really, really, really wish I had worked harder on their heads! I should have made them more square-ish. And I wish I had made the guy on the left have better hair. It's too small! My sis and the middle guy turned out the best. 

I made this with an extra account, in case, you were wondering why the name switch at the bottom. Usually, I play with Koolestkat, but this time I used koalaholiday. 

Me and my sis were kinda being goofy and decided that I would say three random things to my sis and she would draw them. And then later, she said three random things to me, and I drew them. The one above is what I drew. My sis had said a fairy, a flying sheep and a cupcake. This was done without a care for perfection, so please take that into consideration... (Aka. it's messy and goofy.) 

I did this in March this year. (Can you tell it's inspired by St. Patty's day???) I like the way the moss turned out. I used a cool spray painting tool.  

These are the lyrics to one of my favorite songs by Royal Tailor. I kinda think the moon and comets look neat. 

No, I did not draw this because of Justin Bieber!!! I don't listen to his music, at all. So don't get any ideas. I drew this because my church youth group had a special number and this was the song they played. I really liked the way the guy sang it and so I drew the title.  

I hadn't really done chibi people with bright hair, until this art. I think I'd go so far as to say, this is one of favorite online art I have ever done. Her hair turned really cute and the pose is pretty cute, too. The background was fun to do because it's so simplistic, but it looks cool.

This here is my latest one, dating back to a few weeks ago (I think). I really like the dog. (I think it's the best part of the masterpiece.) The dandelion was interesting to do. But I think it looks like what it's supposed to.
