WIP on CS

Hey faeries!

Yup, I'm showing you another WIP I'm drawing on CS. XD

It's of Black Gryph0n again. XD I'm having fun doing it, but a little worried about the coloring part. XDDD I think I'm close to figuring out layers, but I'm not quite there yet. I let you know once I've unlocked the mystery about layers. ;P

Not much to say about this art. XDD

Soooo...

*talks in derpy voice* Bye! *ducks down and is gone*

What are you working on?

Doodle on CS that Just So Happens to Be Draco Malfoy

ELLO!!!

*cough cough* Ignore my weird imitation of Luigi in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon. XD

So I felt like trying to do a sketchy doodle on CS. And, of course, Draco is the person I decided to draw.

It's not perfect, but I'm okay with that. It was just for fun. XD And I did enjoy myself quite a bit. <3

What character do you find yourself always drawing?

Just a Few Tips about Shading...

Hey faeries!

So I know you wanted me to show you a step-by-step of how I draw and color hair; but I thought before we jump into something like that, I wanted to show you how to shade! Now, I don't consider myself to be really good at shading, so some of these tips might be a little off. (If they are off, let me know in the comments!)

When I was making the edits for this post, I did half of them without realizing that I had come up with a new word! XD In real life, I often call shading "shadowing." That's not the correct word... :P SO! Let's pretend I'm a genius and that I have a right to make up new words and that shadowing is now in the dictionary with the meaning: "The act of shading an area in a drawing." BOOM. Sounds professional, right? *wiggles eyebrows*

So basically, for this post, I found four pictures online and edited them to point out where the shadows are. I edited a cat, a dog, a girl, and a guy. All the shadows I pointed out change slightly depending where the light source is coming from. But for the most bit, you can use these tips until you feel comfortable with figuring out shading areas on your own. XD It also helps to look at real people in your life and notice how the light falls on them and where the shadows are. Or you can look at someone else's art and see how they shade. XD

To me, the most important part about shading a cat face is to shade in the ears and on the muzzle. I also really like shading eyes, it adds so much more depth to them.

Again, the shadows in the ear are a key point in shading dogs. (For any eyes, you can shade under the top eyelashes/eyelid.)

[source]

I forgot to add in the edit that you can shade on side of the nose. :P Lots of manga art shades either under the nose or on one side of it. And do you notice the shadows in the girl's hair, like right by the sides of her face? I forgot to mention that as well, in my edit. XDDD

[source]
I once again forgot to say on my edit that the guy also has shadows under his eyebrows. Depending on what kind of style of manga you want, you can either shade a thin to medium line directly under his eyebrows or you can shade a small triangle under one side of the eyebrow, closest to the nose. (I've noticed that Avatar: the Last Airbender shades the latter way.)

- - -

It's okay if you can't shade the "right" areas or something at the beginning. I still go willy-nilly when it comes to shading. XD I'm sure you'll catch onto it soon! <3

Welp, I won't be able to get my superhero drawing done by Monday like I thought I would. But don't worry! I'll still have art to post next week. ;)

What are some of your art tips?

Superhero Me - WIP

Hey faeries!

Me and my sister were bored on Tuesday, so we decided to find an art prompt online and draw it. The art prompt we chose was to draw yourself as an original superhero. I haven't quite finished it yet. So I'm just going to show you my WIP. XD

Ta-da!!! XD I'm going to add a lot more details to my suit, shade the whole picture, and do bunch more stuff. Hopefully, I will get it done this weekend so I show you the finished product on Monday! :O

In case you were wondering, my Gabe Brown Masterpiece on AJ didn't get approved because it had a name on it. DX So I got rid of the Brown part of Gabe's name. (Maybe then AJHQ will approve it??? *crosses fingers* XD)

Happy first day of summer!!!!!!!! :D

More AJ Art

So, like, I somehow let time get away from me and didn't post yesterday or last Saturday. Sorry about that! DX

I've been listening to the Getting Stronger album so much lately, I just needed to draw fanart for Black Gryph0n. XD I'll probably do some Michelle Creber fanart soon. :P

Who finds an amazing new artist or album and listens to it constantly for like weeks on end? *cough cough* Like I'm doing right now. XDD

Promise

Hey faeries!

Made this little baby today. XD Didn't try hard. It was fun. ;)

I got inspired by Black Gryph0n's song called Promise. I listened to that song I don't know how many times today on repeat. XD It's so good! It's about a character in the game Undertale called Toriel. And the song fits her character so well. Ah! I just love ittttt. <3

If you haven't heard the song yet, you totally should (especially if you like Undertale!). The song itself is wonderful even if you don't a thing about Undertale. Here's the link to the song if you want to here it!! Promise - Black Gryph0n

What songs inspire you?

My Wittle Crybaby

Hey faeries!

This week has been pretty crazy. I've been getting grad party stuff ready. And I'm almost done with all the decorations for it, but need to wrap up the last little details and whatnot. And there's be plumbing problems and that's kinda busy too. So yeah, life's a little full right now. XD

*takes a deep breath* All right! You remember that I've been drawing a series of Undertale characters, right? Well, I've drawn another one. This one is of a goat kid named Asriel Dreemurr. He's a really cute, little guy. Asriel's a bit of a crybaby, but he's still determined and has a big heart. XD

I did Asriel in chibi style, of course, because I'm drawing a bunch of UT in chibi. It was interesting to draw a goat but as sorta a human as well. Human because he stands on two legs and I basically drew him as a chibi person, but he's a goat-ish because he has big ears and he's furry and he also has paws. Yes, yes, I know he's a goat but he has paws. I don't know why, but that's how all the rest of the goats in the game are, as well.

Here's a picture of how Asriel looks like in the game.

[source]

I didn't have a bright enough yellow in me and my sister's artist marker selection for Asriel's shirt. So I went into the old kiddie art supplies. I found a lovely yellow that worked perfectly. It wasn't the same quality, obviously, because it's just a regular ol' marker, but it did the trick nicely. I could use a darker yellow from artist markers for the shading.

Speaking of shading, I tried something I haven't done that much. XD It's a super simple technique and I should have thought of this a longggggg time ago, but... I did two levels of shading. The first level of shading I did was simply going back over what I colored with the same color. And then go over it again for the second level. But only go over key areas twice. It makes it look like there are deeper shadows and there are lighter shadows too. The deeper shadows are places where, let's say, the clothes wrinkle more. Or, for hair, color underneath the head or like behind the head, if that makes sense.

*light bulb goes off over my head*

*eyes light up in excitement*

*GASP*

I should do a step-by-step of how I color long girl hair! :O Maybe guy hair, too! What do you guys think about that!!?! *whispers* I think Sarah may already have suggested doing something like this. XD If you guys, like the idea, I'll do it sometime soon! I mean, I've got all summer to draw so sometime in there, I'll draw it for you. XD (This month is pretty busy for me, but next month is all clear! :D)

Eep, I'm actually getting excited about drawing something like for you guys. XD I think I'll have lot more time after grad to draw more. So excited, I just can't hide it! XDDD

What kinds of things make you super excited?

A Sense of Loss

Hey faeries! I'm done schooooooolllllllll!!!!! WOO. *dances* I. AM. DONE. GRADE. TWELVE. SCHOOL. YESH. XDDD

Ahem. That wasn't weird at all.

Anyhoo! I drew Mettaton again. I drew him for my sis, Lostfariy, because she was feeling sick. And I wanted to draw her something that would cheer her up. :) I knew she really liked a scene in Undertale that had to do with Mettaton crying. (I don't think I can say why due to spoilers and snuff.) All I can say is... Mettaton made a choice and he regrets a sacrifice that he had to make when he made that decision.

So that's why I named this art "A Sense of Loss," because when I looked up the meaning for regret one of the phrases in the description was that.

Some people think Mettaton cries oil and others think it's regular tears and others still think it's oil and makeup. XDD I don't have a strong opinion about that. But I made Mettaton cry real tears in this artwork.

I colored faintly on Mettaton's eyelid to give him a bit of eye shadow. I like how it's noticeable but not in your face. :P

I also wanted to color in some pink in his hair because so many people do that and I thought it looked like fun. XD But it is not very visible, really. So. XD

I've been erasing lots more in my art to get lighter spots and I think it's been working out really well. XD As you can see, I did erasing in this artwork, too.

Wow, sorry, I've just haven't had a whole lot to say about art recently. And I didn't have the creative juices to write a post last Thursday; it was the last day of school, so yeah, I had a couple of draining tests. XD Sorry about not posting. :P

What are you going to do in the summer?
